September 2021

Well September continued with groundhog days. Auckland was still in Level 4 and the rest of the country moved down to Level 3 at the beginning of September. Auckland moved to Level 3 on the 22 September, but really there was not much change for me. Apart from the fact that I could go and get a coffee or McDonalds, with contactless pickup.

5 days after the lockdown started a testing station was setup next to us at the A&P grounds and was there until the 25th of September when it moved to another part of the park for a couple of days, then it moved to the netball courts in Pukekohe.

On the 28th September it was announced that there would be a change to who could leave Auckland. One of the options that you could use was “going home”. So that day I went and had another test and got the negative result the next day and on the 30th September I hooked up the caravan and hit the road. Got to the checkpoint at Mercer and had a chat with the police and I was allowed to leave. So it was on the road for me.

I was headed for Wellington and the ferry.
