Wow what a year 2021 turned out to be. I started the year still working at a campground in Wanaka till about the end of January. Then I made my way back up the Island to Blenheim and was there until mid April. That was spending time with family and then celebrating my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. What a milestone that is!
Next stop was the North Island. After 18 months in the South Island I finally returned to the North Island. I spent a bit of time in Wellington then I headed to Himitangi Beach where I parked up at a friends place for a couple of weeks. During that time I caught up with friends around the region.
Next stop was Marton for a weekend catching up with more people. Then I headed back to Auckland. Auckland had been my home for 20 years and it was so great to be back. I had plenty of time to catch up with friends and have a look around the region and see what changes had taken place in my absence.
From mid May till August I did some trips around the place, I also went down to New Plymouth for a weekend. I got up to Northland as well, that is such a beautiful region. But I had to come back to Auckland for caravan repairs at the beginning of August. I was about to leave Auckland and head to the Bay of Plenty region when New Zealand went into another lockdown. I made a mistake by not leaving Auckland when I should have. So I ended up locked down in Auckland for a couple of months.
At the end of September some rules about who could leave Auckland changed so I made a break for it. I was able to leave Auckland so I did and I headed back to my home base in Blenheim.
And I’m still here. Life is not the same in this country anymore and for some people travelling it is not so easy. There are so many places that I can no longer go to or stay at.
So to pass the time I have taken over my brothers gardens and I am making changes to most of it. I am really enjoying been able to be outside a lot and I’ve also planted a vegetable garden so I’m now enjoying the produce from that.
2021 did not turn out as expected and who knew that this would be how my life changed, however I’m making the most of it and am still definitely enjoying myself despite what is going on around me.
